And onto this week’s show!

So just a light topic today then, hey? I am thrilled to invite triple board certified physician, Zach Bush, MD onto the show today for a conversation that made me throw out my questions as soon as we tucked in. When you do the math on the autism prediction of 1 in 3 children having an autism diagnosis by 2030 and EVERYONE having a cancer diagnosis in their life time by that same time, it is time to go big or go home. Instead of being scared by that trajectory, Zach is taking it on with the big picture thinking required. I’ve shared “further listening / watching” links in the show notes today so that you can dive into some of his lectures on glyphosate, chronic disease and more, and in today’s conversation, while we touch on these things, we also look at the things that are currently having the biggest impact on people / planet health and also what’s going to have the biggest impact on turning it around. We look at cancer, microbes, mitochondria, soil and the flawed system that he had to leave, despite being on track to run a medicine faculty, always cleaning up with top awards. Buckle up and enjoy the show, remember to replace feelings of panic with your next micro action that moves us deliciously forward.

Dr Zach’s bio:

Zach Bush, MD is one of the few triple board-certified physicians in the US – with expertise in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism, and Hospice/Palliative care. The breakthrough science that Dr. Bush and his colleagues have delivered offers profound new insights into human health and longevity. In 2012 he discovered a family of carbon-based redox molecules made by bacteria. He and his team subsequently demonstrated that this cellular communication network functions to compensate for glyphosate, and many other dietary, chemical, and pharmaceutical toxins that disrupt our body’s natural defense systems. This science has resulted in a revolutionary class of dietary supplements, including the product, RESTORE. Dr. Bush points to his kids as the driving force behind his passion for change. He is fiercely motivated by a desire to have them experience a much brighter and healthier future. His education efforts provide a grassroots foundation from which we can launch change in our legislative decisions, ultimately up-shifting consumer behavior to bring about radical change in the mega industries of big farming, big pharma, and Western Medicine at large.

The questions I asked Dr Zach:

  1. From developing chemotherapy drugs to soil study for optimal human health: Quite a journey… How did that unfold for you?

  2. And a startling realisation about bacteria and breast cancer that you made was a real moment for you… Talk us through what you found?

  3. I often say in my talks, helping us all realise its’ a cultural and systematic failing, not OUR failing that we don’t know stuff… that it’s criminal for me to have gone through 13 years school and 4 years university and never once be taught about what goes ON/ IN me and how it may impact my health or the planet. I think that’s a huge failing in the school system, and speaking of failings: You went through 17 years of medical academia and no one mentioned plants and whether you ate organic or not as potential impacts on human or planet health: How did you feel during the realisation that these things mattered greatly and how did your colleagues feel when you started to bang on about nutrition and plant foods?

  4. Talking through the first group you worked with to dramatically increase their vegetables, fruits, healthy fats – instant success?

  5. Once you did start to see results, and you started to explore that a nutrient – to truly be a nutrient, meant you had to consider the soil health, and the medical community heard what you’d moved onto doing – how did that go down with them?

  6. So you had the backing of private investors rather than hospitals and research faculties…

  7. What do you think people jump into their creativity to problem solve and think in an innovative way and what do we have to gain by MORE people thinking creatively to solve the major challenges we face today?

  8. What role did those patients play as you went on with the nutritional therapy?

  9. Our current state of play in health presents us with some serious urgency: Share some stats with us the chronic disease we face today…And then Zach spoke to this scary stat: We are on target to have 70% of our adult population with cancer by 2030 and 1 in 3 children with autism spectrum disorder by 2030 in the USA.

  10. What was special about the soil you found?

  11. Why is everything we’ve studied about disease wrong until this point?

  12. And then we discussed why great minds from multiple disciplines and specialisations need to start cross pollenating ideas to solve some of these huge challenges.

  13. And then, I mentioned CIRS / Mold illness… and Zach decided to break it down ‘real quick’ about this autonomic nervous system spiralling out of control.

  14. Then onto how long we have if we use old science

  15. Then onto Regenerative Agriculture for a strong finish.

  1. Thank you for podcast #119 Alexx, I found it very informative and has made me more determined to keep growing my own organic food. The only stumbling block is my husband who just informed me on the weekend he used weed spray on our outdoor rock area again, even though we have discussed (at length) the dangers of using glycophosphates. Hopefully after he listens to Zach Bush and the damage it creates to our health he will never use weed spray again.

  2. Interesting content. Amazing guy .

Curious about how practical this regenerative farming is given the severe state of drought so much of the country is in. I think i did see a segment on Landline this year where a farm somewhere was actually using material from Sydneys sewage farm to regenerate crippled farmland with some success .

Anyways keen to get started on growing my own veg in 2019.

There’s mounting evidence that the yields are equal to conventional and that the condition of the soil and sequestration of carbon are far superior to conventional. Exciting times and good luck with your veggie growing in 2019 x
