And onto this week’s show!

On this week’s show, you get to meet the filmmaker who brought us the wonderful 2040 film this year – Damon Gameau’s follow up film to “That Sugar Film” in 2014 and it didn’t disappoint. As Damon said, “Once you clock the vastness of the climate crisis issue, what other issue is there?” He simply made the film he had to make as a human and a dad wanting his little girl’s 2040 to be different from the bleak picture we’re seeing now.

We talk about his journey into accidental activism through storytelling and film, we talk about the biggest issues of our time and we even have a crack at solving them. It’s a great conversation with a great man who has a compelling vision and path carved out for us and our planet.

Enjoy the show, share it with your friends and colleagues and let’s accelerate positive change around the world with this week’s catalyzing conversation. Head to the show notes for the sponsor offer and further resources Alexx x

The questions I asked Damon:

  • Was baby Damon a planet care ninja or did this happen for you through the evolution of thought – any aha moments that got you to kick things up gear along the way?
  • I know in part your motivation to tell a new story on the climate crisis was fueled by your own hopelessness – an antidote of sorts. I know I do the work I do in part for the very same reason – to always feel like I’m in the positive contribution headspace… So what were you feeling most hopeless about that spurred this beautiful new project the film/education platform 2040? Was it the same for the obesity epidemic with That Sugar Film?
  • Climate destabilisation crisis, clean air crisis AND renewable resource crisis… The positive here is that people can come leading with what they’re passionate about and make a difference.
  • Whatsyour2040 is awesome because it leads people with curiosity instead of “you’re bad, you have to change” vibes. When researching for the film what were some of your favourite discoveries of the power of certain things to move us where we need to go?
