And on this week’s show!
This week we begin a 4 week series on parenting and kids’ health topics – mental and physical and I can’t wait to share the upcoming guests with you. To kick us off I speak with Carrie Rigoni, Chiropractor and Pilates instructor with a special passion for vagus nerve support as a key factor in our babies’, kids’, and parents’ ability to thrive on the parent-child journey. We explore:
- What is the Vagus Nerve – how much has our knowledge of its function and significance has grown in such a short space of time?
- How can we identify if our vagus nerve isn’t functioning optimally/ optimally supported – in adults and in kids and babies?
- Does the birth delivery style/circumstance affect vagus nerve tone from day dot? And if so what can we do to support our bubs?
- What are the factors/symptoms that might suggest Vagus nerve support is needed in babies?
And so much more.
Questions I asked Carrie:
- How you came to decide on Chiropractic and pilates to support people’s health? And I was reading that you were Perth’s only Integrative Neuroimmunology trained practitioner – what does that mean?
- What is the Vagus Nerve – how much has our knowledge of its function and significance has grown in such a short space of time?
- How can we identify if our vagus nerve isn’t functioning optimally/ optimally supported – in adults and in kids and babies?
- So let’s talk kids in more detail: Does the birth delivery style/circumstance affect vagus nerve tone from day dot? And if so what can we do to support our bubs?
- What are the factors/symptoms that might suggest Vagus nerve support is needed in babies?
- How can the food we give babies impact their health trajectory for life?
- And for any parents worried and thinking ‘well I really missed the boat there??? (Just so we don’t leave peeps feeling like they’ve failed when we all just know what we know at the time…)
- And how about if we haven’t treated the bubs but we have a child experiencing challenges now – how easy/tricky can it be to support them or as you say ‘biohack’ them and can you talk about different presentations where chiropractic may be able to help?
- And raising children can be an intense time full of endless ‘have to’s in the day to get done until they start being able to do things for themselves more and more… how can parents ensure they maintain vagus nerve tone – tips/therapies/lifestyle support for time/budget poor as well as ‘wish list’ stuff as long as we cover both.

This week’s show sponsor:
We’re thrilled to have the wonderful Nordic Naturals fish oils as our show partner this month. They are thoroughly grounded in science. Evidence informs their product formulations. The latest research fuels their innovation. And cutting-edge technologies bring it all to life.
As a long time taker of their liquid fish oil and feel almost immediate effects when I take it, I personally vouch for this wonderful brand. A recent documentary painted all fish oils as severely harmful to the oceans, but as with all things, there are leading producers doing the right thing by the planet, producing a truly sustainable product, and Nordic Naturals is an example.
Check out this mini-documentary that covers all of Nordic Naturals sustainable fishing practices to illustrate their excellent work: https://therahealth.com.au/brands/nordicnaturals/ I love the founder story!
And of course, we’re running a little giveaway. You can win a duo pack of oils:
- Arctic Cod Liver Oil liquid 237ml Lemon Flavour (what me and my son take)
- Arctic Cod Liver Oil 60 soft gels (great for travel and on-the-go factor)
All you have to do is leave a comment in the comments section, and you’ll be in the running. Good luck!
Enjoy the show,
