And on this week’s show!
This week we begin a 4 week series on parenting and kids’ health topics – mental and physical and I can’t wait to share the upcoming guests with you. To kick us off I speak with Carrie Rigoni, Chiropractor and Pilates instructor with a special passion for vagus nerve support as a key factor in our babies’, kids’, and parents’ ability to thrive on the parent-child journey. We explore:
- What is the Vagus Nerve – how much has our knowledge of its function and significance has grown in such a short space of time?
- How can we identify if our vagus nerve isn’t functioning optimally/ optimally supported – in adults and in kids and babies?
- Does the birth delivery style/circumstance affect vagus nerve tone from day dot? And if so what can we do to support our bubs?
- What are the factors/symptoms that might suggest Vagus nerve support is needed in babies?
And so much more.
Questions I asked Carrie:
- How you came to decide on Chiropractic and pilates to support people’s health? And I was reading that you were Perth’s only Integrative Neuroimmunology trained practitioner – what does that mean?
- What is the Vagus Nerve – how much has our knowledge of its function and significance has grown in such a short space of time?
- How can we identify if our vagus nerve isn’t functioning optimally/ optimally supported – in adults and in kids and babies?
- So let’s talk kids in more detail: Does the birth delivery style/circumstance affect vagus nerve tone from day dot? And if so what can we do to support our bubs?
- What are the factors/symptoms that might suggest Vagus nerve support is needed in babies?
- How can the food we give babies impact their health trajectory for life?
- And for any parents worried and thinking ‘well I really missed the boat there??? (Just so we don’t leave peeps feeling like they’ve failed when we all just know what we know at the time…)
- And how about if we haven’t treated the bubs but we have a child experiencing challenges now – how easy/tricky can it be to support them or as you say ‘biohack’ them and can you talk about different presentations where chiropractic may be able to help?
- And raising children can be an intense time full of endless ‘have to’s in the day to get done until they start being able to do things for themselves more and more… how can parents ensure they maintain vagus nerve tone – tips/therapies/lifestyle support for time/budget poor as well as ‘wish list’ stuff as long as we cover both.

This week’s show sponsor:
We’re thrilled to have the wonderful Nordic Naturals fish oils as our show partner this month. They are thoroughly grounded in science. Evidence informs their product formulations. The latest research fuels their innovation. And cutting-edge technologies bring it all to life.
As a long time taker of their liquid fish oil and feel almost immediate effects when I take it, I personally vouch for this wonderful brand. A recent documentary painted all fish oils as severely harmful to the oceans, but as with all things, there are leading producers doing the right thing by the planet, producing a truly sustainable product, and Nordic Naturals is an example.
Check out this mini-documentary that covers all of Nordic Naturals sustainable fishing practices to illustrate their excellent work: https://therahealth.com.au/brands/nordicnaturals/ I love the founder story!
And of course, we’re running a little giveaway. You can win a duo pack of oils:
- Arctic Cod Liver Oil liquid 237ml Lemon Flavour (what me and my son take)
- Arctic Cod Liver Oil 60 soft gels (great for travel and on-the-go factor)
All you have to do is leave a comment in the comments section, and you’ll be in the running. Good luck!
Enjoy the show,

I would love love love to win the Nordic Natural cod liver oil duo! My bones – and me – would be forever grateful for an extra dose of vitamin D!
Oh amazing, so glad we are on the right track, we have tried Nordic naturals previously. I would love to take this up again to support brain health for Mstr 5. So grateful for the opportunity
I would LOVE to win this product!!
I would love to try Nordic Naturals for myself and my 7 year old
I would love to win the Nordic Naturals supplements for me and my children. My eldest in particular is having a tough time at the moment, and I’m looking at all the ways I can help him through it! Including listening to this fab podcast episode of course 🙂
I would love to try the Nordic Naturals cod liver oil! Am taking another brand but this sounds super interesting
I’d so love to win! I’m about to start my little one on solids and would love to incorporate cod liver oil right from the beginning and hopefully try and tempt my 5 year old into joining us!
Hi Alexx, I would love to win the Nordic Naturals prize. I already take the cod liver oil capsules but would love my youngest son to try it. Love your podcasts!
Maria
Would love to win this prize! I was just looking at starting on a cod liver oil for the whole familu, but looking for the safest, sustainable source is taking time!
Very interesting show! Thankyou
I would be so grateful to win the fish oils to try
Loved the show. I’d also love to win the Nordic naturals prize!
Would love to be in draw for the nordic naturals, our 5 month old has been diagnosed with epilepsy. How great this would be for her little brain at the moment when it needs all the help we can give it.
I would loooove to win the Nordic Naturals prize. I am really struggling to find a good plant based /algae based Omega supplement that contain DHA and EPA in the right doses… Open to trying non plant based options if these are procured in a sustainable and regenerative way, which Nordic Naturals are ! Very exited about this offer!!
I would seriously love to win the Nordic Naturals prize. My 14 yo daughter can’t take capsules but I would really like her to start taking the Nordic Naturals Arctic Cod Liver Oil, and the lemon liquid sounds amazing. I would also like to get to try the soft gel capsules myself . After listening to some of your recent podcasts I think we both would benefit immensely from these supplements.
A really informative podcast – thank you. And I’d love to win the fish oils!
Such an informative episode! I’d love to be in the draw for this beautiful quality fish oil.
Nervous system science is EVERYTHING in conscious parenting. We teach a little of the science to the parents we support as coaches so that parents have tools to learn regulation and coregulation. LOVED this episode.
Would also love some Omega 3s
