Today was a zesty smoothie. Why? Because on days where I feel the need for chocolate, mostly I know I need more than that. A substantial boost rather than flash-in-the-pan energy. It’s just that we think chocolate is the pep up we need and sure, it’s a pep up alright, but of the quick and sugary variety – Even 70% chocolate is, sad I know, about 24-30% sugar and very little of the other stuff that helps us process sugar effectively – ie plant fibre and viamins.
A smoothie however from a rainbow of plants is a real pep up of the mitochondrial variety – all of your cells. If we look after those guys we feel great all over and we build health. Building health is a lasting strategy for feeling our absolute best and this is the one I made this afternoon.
And that’s it. What’s your favourite smoothie to bring you energy?

Sounds lovely! I was wondering what to do with all the mint growing like crazy in my garden. Do you juice the orange and freeze in chunks or just cut it up whole and freeze?

I like to freeze in chunks because you’ve then got the fibre in there too. Enjoy using up the mint <3
